with the reduction in traffic the last couple days, I’ve been averaging 36.5 mpg over the typical 32 +/-.

that is about .4 gallons a week

over 50 weeks that is 20 gallons a year

and at $2.60 a gallon that is $52 / year and $60 at $3.00 / gallon

in time, the morning commute goes from 50 minutes to 25 and the afternoon from 35 minutes to about 30. that is 30 minutes a day extra

2.5 hours a week.

125 hours a year.

not just commuting, but the additional traffic costs me an extra $50 - $60 and 125 hours a year.

What are these “MPG’s” of which you speak?

*I’ve been working on my EV snobbery.  I did not snag the “LOLGAS” plate yet, though.

Nice truck there. I think mine gets around 11mpg, but I’m not totally sure - the only reason to know is to have a backup for my fuel gauge by noting the odometer reading . With the small in-cab tank I think my range is worse than most EVs at about 150 miles. But who the hell is driving 150 miles in a single stretch in that beast?

I messed up my car’s mileage. Used to get 32-33 for my commute, then I started downshifting and now I get 29 :( The price for fun I guess.

Hope traffic stays light for you though.

I average between 25 and 32 mpg in normal driving, depends how much fun I’m having that tank.

If I were to run the highway every day instead of taking different routes, I could see my best of 36.8 mpg more regularly.

Either way, I’m not bitching about my mileage from a 90s 3.0 V6 mated to a 4 speed auto.

ha! We went to one of those, thought the kids would love it. It was out in a gigantic field but that mean no shade, and it was hot. Then they let kids blast whatever horns they wanted, which, for our little ones at the time, was not cool. They vacillated between loving it and hating it as horns got honked. We didn’t stay long.

For comparison, I get an average of 4.1 miles per kWh. In local rates, that means it costs me ~$ 0.011 per mile, so my weekly commute of 220 miles (44/day) costs me ~$2.40, or about $120/year.

The obvious solution is to buy a mid  60's Chevy 4x4.

Just imagine how much work you could do on an Allroad with that sort of extra time.

On one hand, I get terrible gas mileage daily driving my Suburban, but on the other hand it forces me to drive conservatively... I speed and drive like a jackass in cars that get good mileage.
